Tips from Trainers

The Biggest Loser

Well if you watched the third week of the Biggest Loser last night you will understand when I say drama.  But that is what keeps us watching right?  There was also a lot of good information in the show as well.  Here are the trainer tips from last night if you missed them:

“Trainer Tip” #1

If you have bad joints or knees and it is really hard on your body to workout, Bob suggests doing a water workout.  Find a pool and see if a water aerobics class is offered.  If you have never done water aerobics or just a few laps in the pool then you don’t know what you are missing in terms of how fast swimming can get your heart rate up.  It is also a great way to workout after and injury.  If you can’t find a class or don’t have enough time for one, Bob suggests doing jumping jacks for 30 seconds and then treading water for 30 seconds.  Alternate the two for 10 minutes and then increase time with each workout.  You will be amazed at how tired you will be after doing this.

“Cooking Tip”

Chef Curtis Stone gives us a tip on how to make our food taste more sugary without having to use sugar in our meals.  He says to caramalize your food to pull out the natural sweeteners.  Get a good non-stick pan and cook at a high heat.  You can do this for onions and also chicken and other meats.  This will help give your food more flavor but not increase the calories.  Great tip…something we can all enjoy I’m sure.

In the show, they also put in a plug for the new game for the Wii, The Biggest Loser.  Here is what the game has to offer:

  • Extensive workout customization, a daily calendar for day planning and 50 healthy recipes from The Biggest Loser Cookbook.
  • A complete workout containing over 88 exercises, including upper and lower body, core, cardio and yoga.
  • Select from a 4, 8 or 12 week program and compete with contestants from the prior seasons of The Biggest Loser.
  • Multiplayer functionality allows you to train with a friend and compete in weekly challenges to see who really is The Biggest Loser.
  • Wii Balance Board compatible with 66 of the included exercises utilizing the Wii Balance Board, including squats, knee lifts, lunges and much, much, more.

That’s a lot of good stuff when you are trying to lose weight and get in shape.
