hCG to Lose Weight?

What is hCG and why does everyone keep talking about it?

Here is a brief overview of it.  It is a hormone that is present in pregnant women

You can inject it, rub it, or take drops under the tongue.  You don’t need a prescription for it.

You do have to be on a very strict diet when taking this hormone–only 550 calories a day!  Doesn’t sound like very much does it.  So how is this a good way to lose weight if you are essentially starving yourself?  What it does is mobilizes the fat in the body and the body uses that as calories and energy and the fat melts away.   People who have taken it say that they don’t ever feel hungry during the day even though they are only eating 550 calories.

Sounds too good to be true, right?  Fat melting away?  Not ever hungry? Well it might be to good to be true.  Just like any diet it is not guaranteed for everyone.  Even though it is safe for men and women it has NOT been approved by the FDA because it hasn’t been fully tested.

side effects may include headaches, blood clots, and depression–all of which are printed on the side of the bottle.

Like any other dietary supplement, consult your physician before taking any medicine to help you lose weight.

Any one taken it?  Did it work for you?

Inexpensive Workout Equipment

Too busy to make it to the gym today?  Try getting a workout in at home. And  I don’t mean putting in one of those old 70’s workout videos either.  They are way too long and and really outdated.

Take control of your own workout and get yourself some basic workout equipment so that when you are too busy or too tired to make it to the gym you can pull out your workout equipment and get in a powerful but short workout.  Whether you’re just beginning or you’ve been working out for awhile, these pieces of equipment are a must in order to have success in either losing weight or keeping the weight off.

This equipment includes:

-    A Swiss (exercise) ball

-    Exercise bands (preferably different weights)

-    Medicine Ball (6 or 8 lbs)

-    Jump Rope

If your day gets too busy and you’re unable to make it to the gym then having these things in our home will give you the chance to still get a great workout at home. When buying these items look for ones that include workouts with them that way you have workouts that require them.

This workout equipment is fairly inexpensive but priceless when it comes to those days we can’t make it to the gym.

Workout Intervals

Tired of running on the treadmill or the elliptical machine but feel those are some of the only workouts that really get your heart rate up?  That’s how I feel sometimes.  I need a really good run to clear all the gunk out of my lungs.  If I don’t have that feeling then sometimes I don’t feel like I have done anything in terms of burning calories.

Try this workout.  Instead of just hopping on the treadmill and running a good pace for 30 minutes, mix it up with intervals of sprints.  For example, every 2 minutes do a sprint for 20 seconds and then go back to your pace for the next 1 minute 40 seconds until the next 2 minute mark.  You can do this on any workout machine–treadmill, elliptical, stairclimber, rowing machine, bike, etc.

Just go as hard as you can for 20 seconds every 2 minutes.  This will increase your heart rate and will give you mini goals to accomplish during your workout.  Help yourself lose weight and boost your energy by mixing it up a bit.

Work Off Weight at Work

Are you one who sits all day at a computer either for work or for play? Doesn’t it make you feel lazy? Do you feel yourself hunching over for the rest of the day? Living in this age of technology most of us use a computer everyday–some for just a short amount of time and others for periods of 5 hours or longer.

Regardless of how long we spend on the computer or at a desk each day, it always seems to take its toll on our bodies–mostly our core and our backs. Now you can get a great workout in while at the office or at home–by using a chair made out of a big ball. Sound like fun? It is.

It used to be recommended to sit on a stability ball to help your core muscles stay engaged all day while you try and balance yourself on it. Now the stability ball has improved to an actual chair. So now you can roll on wheels and the ball at the same time. Talk about a balancing act. This balance ball chair is great for any workspace or home office. It helps strengthen your back and your core muscles while you sit. It relieves tension in your back and improves spinal alignment so that you feel more comfortable while sitting. The ball is removable so it can be used for other stability ball exercises that can be found in this Fat to Firm Fitness Ball Workout for Dummies. There are different sizes of stability balls and you choose one based on your height.

This particular balance ball chair is created for people 5′-5′11″ with a 300lb maximum and comes in 4 different colors. Regular stability balls
come in a variety of sizes and colors as well. Make sure you get one that is best suited for your height so that you get the best results. Now you have no more excuses as to why you don’t have great abs!

Shake to Lose Weight

The Formula: A Personalized 40-30-30 Fat-Burning Nutrition Program

Never know what to eat that is healthy and will help you lose weight?  Neither did I til a few years ago, but this book has totally changed me and the things I eat.

Here is the secret–a chocolate peanut butter shake!  I eat it everyday that I can for lunch.  It is a chocolate peanut butter shake that contains protein (I use chocolate or vanilla), milk, cocoa, peanut butter, and fructose.  All “normal” foods, as I call them, that can be found in most households (except the fructose which can be found a local health food stores or places that have bulk foods).

Just put everything in a Magic Bullet, add ice and blend away.  You can make just one serving for yourself and it is really easy clean up.  It is soooo easy and soooo good–not like those gross protein shakes you have to choke down! I eat this everyday and I actually look forward to it!

Weight Loss in the Winter

Do you feel it is harder to work out in the winter than in the spring, summer and fall months? Need to fight the slump in your winter weight loss program?

For most people it is harder to work out in the winter months due to shorter days, cold weather, and the many holidays that come at this time of year. So try and keep yourself motivated by doing activities that you already have to do. For example, shoveling snow. Most of the country has been hit by huge snowstorms already this year and the only way to get out of some of them is to dig yourself out.  So don’t view it as being such a pain but more of a way to achieve your weight loss goals.

Did you know that a person who weighs 160lbs. can burn 173 calories just by clearing snow with a snow blower for only a half an hour? There are snow blowers like this one that can move 800lbs. of snow per minute. Can you imagine how many calories you can burn by moving 800lbs of snow by hand? Try it. Do it the old fashioned way and pull out the shovel to burn a minimum of 230 calories–that is if you don’t have very much snow. If you have lots of snow you can burn even more!  And it is a great way to tone arms, shoulders, back and legs!

Just think how many calories you can burn in an hour doing the same. So get out your winter gear and make your mark on the neighborhood by shoveling your driveway and then moving on to your neighbors!
